Operation Safe Campus Month
Campus-wide event emphasizes all aspects of security from personal safety to
credit card safety, and includes Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) System demonstrations,
videos on the use of protective devices, exhibits, and handouts. Programs are
held throughout the year on specific topics.
Community Assistant (CA) and First Year Assistant (FYA) Programs
Lectures by local speakers on topics, such as addiction, alcoholism, drugs,
and athletes and addiction.
Rape Aggression Defense (RAD)
Courses are offered by the Department of Safety. Students may register for RAD
course for Physical Education credit through the Registrar’s Office. Special
classes may be scheduled by contacting the Department of Safety.
Basic Vehicle Maintenance
Classes on basic maintenance and minor repair are offered by the Department
of Safety, with cooperation with the Sweet Briar College Garage.
Safety Walks
Students may request the Chief of Department of Safety to walk with them and
discuss lighting and other safety concerns. This gives the Chief an opportunity
to see first hand, what areas students may view as potential security problems.
Operation Identification
Students are encourages to bring valuable items, such as cameras and stereos
to the Department of Safety Office and have an officer mark the item with the
student’s personal ID number. This service is free of charge.
A.A. (Alcoholics Anonymous)
Students may attend meetings on a regular basis in the community.
Sweet PEAS
Peer health educators who present programs on health topics, including substance
abuse.
