Determine from
informant vital information
|

2)
Notify Amherst SheriffŐs Office, Fire Department, and Rescue
Squad, as needed. Department of
Safety responds to scene to secure the area, assists with evacuation, and
renders first-aid to the injured.

3)
Notify the Point Person
|
|
|
4)
The Point Person will ensure the notification of the
President and other appropriate college officials. The Vice PresidentŐs Office will notify families, if
victims include staff of the College.
The Dean of Co-Curricular Life will notify families of students. The Dean of the College will notify
families of faculty members.

|
5)
The Department of Safety will coordinate emergency response
of other law enforcement agencies, fire and rescue operations.
|
|
|
6)
The Director of Health Services will coordinate treatment of
any injuries. The general
protocol will include triaging injuries at the College, if possible, and
coordinating transports to Lynchburg General Hospital or other appropriate
medical facility.

7)
The Vice President
for Finance and Administration will coordinate temporary housing and
services, if needed.
|
|
|
8)
The Office of College Relations will coordinate internal and
external releases of information.
|
|
|
9)
The Office of Co-Curricular Life will be responsible for
releasing information of the incident to the student body.
|
|
|
10)
Students, faculty, and/or staff in need of counseling
services following the emergency will be referred to the ChaplainŐs Office,
the Health and Counseling Center, or the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) as
appropriate.
